“Were we ever meant to survive?”

Drawn from Audre Lorde’s 1978 poem A Litany for Survival, this question speaks to the experience of living at the margins—unprotected, unheard, and still refusing to disappear.

Lorde wrote about fear, visibility, and the courage required to speak when silence offers no safety. This piece carries that defiance beyond the page: a reminder of those who were never expected to survive openly, and did anyway.
